Huawei has endured US sanctions for almost two years now, with one of the biggest side-effects being that its recent phones completely lack Google integration.
This means that phones like the Huawei P40 series and Mate 40 line lack Google Play Services, the Google Play Store, and a host of other Google apps. The lack of Google Play Services in particular means that even some third-party apps (e.g. Uber, Snapchat) won’t work properly.
There’s a chance that things could change with the Biden administration though. New Commerce secretary nominee Gina Raimondo said she would “review the policy” and consult with lawmakers, allies, and industry players as part of the process.
This suggests the possibility that Huawei sanctions could be lifted in some capacity. So that got us wondering whether Android Authority readers would buy a Huawei phone again if Google support returns to all the firm’s devices.
